Los Angeles Dance Collective to Premiere New Work “Metamorphosis” June 11 at El Portal Theatre

ABLA is an Emerging Company of Dancers at the Peaks of their Careers-- In Strikingly Different Fields


ABLA is a story of people finding new inspiration when their lives may appear settled. It is where adults with a passion for ballet come to train and perform new choreography, where the only requirement is heart and hard work.

Classical ballet is an art form typically performed by children and professionals. ABLA is where ballet and contemporary dance is performed by adults at the peaks of their careers in different fields.

This June, the company will perform an original program of classical and contemporary dance. The program includes a premiere of “Metamorphosis” performed with a live score by composer Gregory J. Lenczycki.

Celebrate the joy of dance with a performance from a group that includes:

• a water treatment engineer
• a public defender
• a UCLA sleep analyst
• a mental health worker in transitional housing in South LA

ABLA was founded in 2013 by Phillip McAbee, a digital systems analyst and former professional dancer.
